A recap of 2015

As I sit here on my bed typing this, Lillian is sat on my knee quietly watching me and scratching my knee (she has a thing about scratching everything...usually my face). She can't sit up on her own just yet so she's just resting her head on my left arm. It's quite cute.

Anyway, let's get onto the actual topic of this particular post. I thought I would do a brief recap on how 2015 went for me. It was a great year and it'll be nice to read back on it in the future. I can't possibly include everything so i'll just point put the key events.

The beginnning of the year started with me passing my degree with a 2:2 and gaining my professional qualification as a Dispensing Optician. It was a massive achievement for me, I never thought i'd actually do a degree in my life but I did! and I was so proud of myself. It was the hardest three years of my life. Looking back, I know that I let the stress of it get to me too much. I'm very glad it's over!!
I graduated at Canturbury Christ Church Cathedral (which by the way, is beautiful).

None of my class mates knew this but I was actually pregnant at my graduation. It wasn't obvious though as it was early days...and I was wearing a huge gown.

I got my professional number (you need this to practice as a Dispensing Optician) on the 6th March, which also meant i got a payrise. Yipee!

The biggest and most amazing thing that happened in 2015 was that I had my beautiful daughter - Lillian. I am obviously biased but she is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen! Although, saying that I did think she looked weird when she was first born (mean mummy). She weighed 7lb10oz and was born on 26th August at 6.36am. I was in labour for two days and ended up having forceps and an episiotomy. Not nice! But obviously she was worth it.

The next few months went by in a bit of a blur to be honest. It was a jumble of poo, sick and sleepless nights! But I loved every minute of it. Don't get me wrong, there were a few occasions where I broke down but I always had Darryl (my husband) to pick me up from the puddle of snot amd tears.

Babies have so much bloody stuff that we decided we wanted more space; so went on the journey of house hunting. We didn't have to look far or long as we fell in love with a four-bed detached new build house. The showroom was outstanding (yeah I know they make them look extra amazing so you fall for it). So we put our house on the market, had loads of interest and Bobs your uncle our house was sold! It didn't actually go that smoothly but I can't be bothered to delve into that story. We did pretty well to be honest and sold it quite fast. Our new house won't be ready until 29th January though so we've had to move in with Darryl's parents for the time being. They are so lovely to give us the biggest bedroom in the house.

Next, I passed my driving test! First time! Bloody hell, I was so relieved and excited. I got four minors which I was so shocked at because I was convinced I did rubbish.  Darryl bought me my little pap pap (1.2 vauxhall corsa, 2005 reg) and I honestly love it. It's so nippy and fun to drive. I wish I'd learnt to drive sooner. The sense of freedom and independence you get when you can just hop into your car and go where ever you want is amazing.

I started 2015 with a new years resolution to be more positive in general and I truely believe that is why so many good things have happened to me. Good things don't happen to those who wait, they happen when you go out and make them happen!

I'm going to leave my recap there, this post is longer than i thought it would be. I do ramble on!

An Introduction...

I've wanted to start a blog for a while now but kept putting it off for some reason. Probably because I am lazy or the fact that 2015 has been such a busy year (I'll get on to that in another post). So as 2016 begins...so does this blog! I am kind of looking forward to sitting down a few times a week just to do something for myself while Lillian has her naps rather than mindlessly watching television or playing on Diamond Digger (yes sad I know). They (who are they?!) say that you should nap when baby naps but that's never been the case for me. I just can't seem to sleep in the day anymore! I could when I was pregnant though. So this blog will be a good hobby I think.
So here I am, let's start off with a bit about me (I'm pretty average so you can skip this part if you like). My name is Heather Whittaker. I'm 27 and I am a qualified Dispensing Optician. I have the most amazing husband - Darryl (no he didn't pay me to say that). We've been together just over 9 years but been married since 31st July 2014. We have just had our beautiful daughter - Lillian. She's amazing and everything we could have hoped for. She's now 4 months old! Where the hell has the time gone?! It really does go so fast. We have a little Jack Russell called Gizmo (he's bonkers!), and a bearded dragon named Marley (she's pretty bonkers too but more in the old-senile-losing-her-mind kinda way). So we're pretty much a happy little family I guess.
We are currently living with my in-laws at the moment as we've just sold our first home to buy a new build which won't be ready until the 29th January. It's all very exciting!
So anyway, I think that about sums the intro up.
This blog will consist of my random ramblings with a few other things thrown in like reviews on products I like. To be honest I will just throw anything I like into it haha.
